OTOH, people can purchase OBC for a guest (and presumably you could purchase OBC for your self) that has no registration requirement, but is a little more restrictive in that they're only OBC-you can't use them to pay off the cruise itself. Gift certificates have a registration requirement, but can be used either as OBC or to help pay off the cruise itself. ![]() There seems to be a big difference between buying a gift certificate and buying onboard credit. Would be good to hear if anyone has experience of this, particularly from UK. The other benefit last time was that because we had booked our Princess cruise so far in advance they converted our pounds on the basis of $2 to £1 which kept our costs down (or not as the case may be - we just spent more!). We were wondering if RCCL offers the same facility. The benefit was that we saved the credit card % charge levied on passengers from UK settling on board accounts which are priced in dollars. It effectively went on to our on board account before we left UK and we would withdraw from our account on board if we needed cash and also used it to pay our on board bill at the end of the cruise. We used this as our on board spending money. On our last cruise with Princess we pre-purchased on board gift credit in UK via Carnival UK. ![]() This will be our first RCCL cruise and I wondered if anyone could answer a question for me. We are cruising shortly on Navigator of The Seas.
